Emerald City Organic Sleep Solutions, Inc. of Eugene showcases high-quality, domestic wool mattresses, mattress pads, mattress toppers, pillows and comforters from Shepherd's Dream.   These are hand-made from the finest domestic, organic and Eco-Wool.  The Woolgatherer Carding Mill produces wool for Shepherd's Dream, as well as for many of our other suppliers.   The mill is certified organic by Oregon Tilth.  Not only does Woolgatherer use domestic wool, but nearly 25% of it comes from the local Coburg area.   When you choose a Shepherd's Dream product, you are helping to promote a local economy based on sustainable practices and thoughtful use of mother-nature's resources.  This fact let your conscience feel at ease.   Their wonderfully soft, snuggly wool products will make your body feel at ease too!

Shepherd's Dream wool products provide a deep and restorative sleep because wool helps maintain your natural body temperature and wicks away moisture, keeping you dry and comfortable.  Wool also naturally repels dust mites and also inhibits the growth of other allergens such as bacteria, mold and mildew.  Our wool products all have either certified organic wool or Eco-Wool.   Eco-Wool Mattress

We feature Shepherd's Dream Eco-Wool and certified organic wool mattresses. They are endowed with ten layers of thick, Eco-wool batting enveloped by a certified organic wool-fabric mattress casing.  This unique mattress is arguably the most organic mattress on the planet, and we have one in our showroom.

  Wool Crib Mattress

We carry Shepherd's Dream Eco-Wool crib mattresses.   Babies can benefit from the purity of an all-wool mattress for many reasons: it has no chemical flame retardants; it is resistant to dust mites; it is resistant to mold and mildew; the wool fiber has been processed as gently as possible using no harsh acid-baths such as those used with regular wool; and the mattress helps keep baby dry and comfortable.

We have a Savvy Rest brand latex crib mattress that is also ideally suited for baby.

We also have in our showroom a beautiful maple crib by Pacific Rim Woodworking.

  Organic Wool Mattress Pad

To protect your wool mattress, we carry beautiful Shepherd's Dream certified organic wool mattress pads. These top-quality mattress pads are washable and help keep your mattress dry and clean.  Protect your mattress investment with a mattress pad of equal quality.  They are available in crib-size too.

We also have a Coyuchi brand organic cotton mattress pad.

 Eco-Wool Mattress Topper

Add extra softness to the wool mattress, or any mattress, with a Shepherd's Dream Eco-Wool, three-inch-thick mattress topper.  With a cloud-like feel, you will experience the very finest in all-wool sleeping comfort.  The topper is also available in a two inch thick version.

 Organic Fleece Mattress Topper

NEW- fleece mattress toppers by Holy Lamb Organics.  These are extra plush lambswool toppers minus the sheepskin.   Instead, the organic wool is sewn directly to an organic cotton backing.  With this humane construction, you get to avoid the chemicals used to tan the hide, and the sheep get to keep their skin. 

It is completely organic and handmade in Washington from Merino wool.

  Wool Comforters

We also have Shepherd's Dream Eco-Wool comforters.   We have the regular weight version in stock, but can get the summer and winter weight versions too. We think the regular weight comforter provides just the right amount of cozy, organic warmth.  We have comforters in crib-sizes too.

  Organic Wool Blanket

We now have Real Bedding organic wool blankets   These are the wonderful old-style blankets that are fuzzy and soft, not scratchy.   They are only available in ivory color.   Get them while they last, as there is a more modern weave that seems to be replacing the old style.

  Wool, Buckwheat and Millet Pillows

Having the right pillow is nearly as important as having the right mattress.  And it is important that the pillow "match" the mattress and your sleeping style.  In general, a softer mattress requires a lower pillow than a firmer mattress.  This is because, all other things being equal, you will sink farther into a soft mattress than a firm mattress.  The farther you sink into a mattress, the more your head is already propped-up by the mattress itself.  Another basic consideration is that side-sleepers tend to need higher pillows than back-sleepers because a back-sleeper's head is closer to the mattress than a side-sleeper's head.  So when you pick out your pillow in our store, test it first on one of our mattresses that most closely resembles your own mattress.

An Eco-Wool pillow has fantastic properties.  It is nearly as soft as goose down and has a more consistent density.  Because wool wicks away moisture it also stays dry and free of dust mites, mildew and other allergens. 

All of our wool pillow casings are made of certified organic cotton and the wool fiber inside each pillow has been processed gently at an organic mill and contains no chemical residue at all. 

The Shepherd's Dream brand Eco-Wool pillows come in three different fill-weights for both standard and queen sizes.   That means whether you like your pillow thin or thick, you are sure to find one that is just right. 

The Holy Lamb brand Adjustable Wool Pillows we carry are a comfortable and unique pillow filled with very small tufts of Eco-Wool.

We have organic buckwheat and organic millet pillows by Serenity Pillow.  Both are encased in organic cotton fabric with the buckwheat being the firmer of the two and perhaps being the firmest pillow that we carry.  These pillows are also quite unique in that they have two chambers.   There is a layer of Eco-Wool in the top chamber, and either organic buckwheat or organic millet in the bottom chamber.  This combination lets you get the benefit of wool's softness and buckwheat or millet's malleability.  Both are completely adjustable in height.
